Bookshop.org, the online shopping site that contributes a percentage to independent bookshops, is running an Anti-Prime sale today.
I was on a Zoom webinar about TV pitches a few days ago, an alumni event from John Yorke Story, a UK outfit that I took a course with a few years ago.1 The presenter showed several sample treatments that were packed with images, explaining that while TV and film pitches used to be in words only, they now have to be visual - even though the production company would eventually come up with all its own visual material and of course make the film itself.
Of course it makes sense that visual media requires visual ideas in a pitch. The sample treatments looked like book covers - evocative, dramatic. But where to get the images? The webinar presenter explained that we could use any images we found on the internet because it wasn’t a commercial use - that is, we were not reselling the images.
